Lactation Consultation

Breastfeeding Support

We are thrilled to provide Lactation Consultation within our office to our new mothers and babies.

Breastfeeding can be difficult, and we want our families to feel well supported in their desire to nurse their children, ideally through the first year of life or longer.

A message from Sunshine Rearden, DNP, IBCLC:

"As an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, I am passionate about helping breastfeeding moms, infants, and families along their journey. I am committed to focusing on individual breastfeeding goals. In addition to providing the care and support every breastfeeding mother deserves, I am also available to provide evidence-based education for our nursing mothers. My ultimate goal is to increase each mother's confidence and to support successful breastfeeding over time."

If you are interested in a Lactation consultation with Dr. Rearden, please call our Georgetown Office at 843-833-8595 to schedule. Please bring any items needed to comfortably breastfeed your baby and arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment time if this is your first visit to our office.

An additional option for lactation services is BabySettler - a group of nurses with a background in labor and delivery, NICU, or Mother-Baby with at least 5 years experience who are also Lactation Consultants. Headquartered in Mount Pleasant, their staff will travel to Georgetown once per week to provide services next door to Riverside Pediatrics (in the space previously utilized by RBLC).  They help with everything from breastfeeding to bottle feeding, pumping to weaning, routines to sleep, formula preparation to baby wearing and everything in between. Appointments can be made directly on their website.  Their services are open to patients from other medical offices also - please spread the word!
