Sunshine Rearden grew up in Hilton Head Island, and received her ADN and BSN from the University of South Carolina-Aiken. She then obtained her DNP from the Medical University of South Carolina and graduated in May 2017. She has previous experience as a nurse in general pediatrics, emergency room nursing, newborn nursery, post-partum care, and elementary school nursing. She is a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant. She is a member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and International Lactation Consultant Association.

Sunshine and her husband moved to Murrells Inlet in 2001. They still reside in Murrells Inlet with their daughter, Sailor, and their three dogs. In her spare time, she and her family love spending time outdoors.
